Computer Science Students Shine at All-Star Competition
Upper School students traveled to Barrington, Rhode Island, this past weekend to compete in the All-Star Contest of the American Computer Science League — bringing home top-honors for their performances.
ACSL is a global coding contest sponsored by the American Computer Science League, in which over 200 national and international teams vie for distinguished recognition. Programmers came together from around the United States, as well as countries as far away as China, Croatia, Romania, South Korea, Slovenia, and Taiwan.
The Senior 3 team, comprised of seniors Gordon Kamer and Jack Montinaro and junior Tallon Hodge, won 1st rank in the Northern Division (CT, MA, NH, RI) in the initial four rounds and 9th place overall in the All-Star Contest.
The Intermediate 5 team — comprised of senior Wesley Peich, juniors Cole Pierce and Christian Hartch, and sophomores Kevin Tu and Jamie Meindl — placed 11th overall.
“We couldn't be more thrilled with the results,” said Poonam Gupta, faculty advisor and computer science teacher. “The boys worked incredibly hard and posted outstanding results in ACSL contests over the course of the year and made us all proud at All-Star.”
