B.A.S.E. Course Catalog (Spring 2024)

B.A.S.E. (Brunswick After-School Experience) is Brunswick's in-house after-school program, which consists of Encore enrichment activities as well as an Extended-Day group. In addition to offering enriching after-school clubs, the primary goal of B.A.S.E. is to provide safe childcare for children of working parents or families in need of care beyond the traditional school day.
  • The Spring term of B.A.S.E. begins when we return from Spring Break on Monday, March 25. Encore enrichment activities end the week of May 20, and Extended Day ends on May 29 for Pre School, and May 30 for Lower School.
  • Encore activities meet once/week (Monday-Thursday) and are structured enrichment activities run by Brunswick teachers or outside experts, offered at grade levels Pre-K & K, grades 1 & 2, and grades 3 & 4. Registration for all B.A.S.E. programs takes place in the fall, winter, and spring terms so families have the chance to adjust their schedule each season. Any outside instructors go through required background checks.
  • The Encore schedule for each grade, Monday-Thursday, is as follows, unless otherwise noted:
      • Pre-K & K  3:00-3:45 p.m.
      • Grades 1 & 2  3:35-4:20 p.m.
      • Grades 3 & 4  3:45-4:30 p.m.
  • Each Encore activity has a minimum number of sign-ups required to run. Most Encore activities have an enrollment capacity, and we will do our best to ensure that all students get to participate in an activity that they are interested in at least once throughout the year.
  • Extended Day is offered daily as an opportunity for boys in Pre-K-4 to enjoy our facilities and resources and spend time in an unstructured (but supervised) environment at the conclusion of the formal school day.
  • Extended Day pick-up times are 3:45 p.m. (Pre School only), 4:30 p.m., or 5:30 p.m. (you may pick up your son at any time before your registered pick-up time). You may add Extended Day on top of an Encore activity if you need a later pick-up. You will not be charged for Extended Day during the time your son is in an Encore activity.
  • Pick-up for all B.A.S.E. activities (Encore and Extended Day) is at the Pre School building, unless otherwise noted. Please do not line up in the pick-up line early. There are many events happening on campus and the front of the building cannot be blocked to traffic. For example, if you are picking up for grades 3 & 4 early, you will delay and congest the dismissal for grades 1 & 2.

  • Registration will open on Friday, March 1 at 12 p.m. and remain open until Monday, March 4 at 12 p.m. This is an open window for registration - there is no need to log on immediately when registration begins. Your time of registration will not be considered. We will do our best to accomodate all registrations based on enrollment numbers.

    • For Shop, priority will be given to students that have not had a chance to participate yet this school year and who were on the waiting list in previous terms. In the rare event for which registration exceeds capacity in other activities, a lottery system will be used to determine final rosters.
