Mayfair is a series of eight dance classes in which fourth, fifth, and sixth grade boys and girls are taught ballroom and popular dancing, as well as social etiquette. During more formal classes, the students learn traditional dances, such as the Waltz, Foxtrot and Cha-Cha. There is live music at every class.
ATTIRE
Girls: Simple dress or dressy skirt of fingertip length and appropriate closedtoe, leather-soled shoes. Leggings are not permitted.
Boys: Jacket, dress shirt, tie, dress pants, dark socks and appropriate leather dress shoes. No athletic shoes or boots.
Adherence to the dress code is mandatory for admission to each class.
RULESStudents are expected to be courteous, polite and respectful at all times. Please arrive no more than 15 minutes before your class time. Check in is at the attendance table upon arrival. Please do not park your car along the curb at the entrance. Students should be picked up promptly at dismissal time.
INSTRUCTION
Instruction is provided by The Barclay Classes. For generations, The Barclay Classes have helped students grow into well-mannered young adults by helping them develop social skills, confidence and poise while having fun through dance.
FOURTH GRADE
Friday Afternoon, 4:00-5:00 p.m. (8 sessions)
The boys and girls will be learning and practicing basic social etiquette while being taught to Waltz, Cha-Cha, and Fox Trot. Rock-nRoll and line dances with current music will also be included to add to the fun! Through ballroom dancing, the boys and girls will begin to develop a sense of ease and confidence in social situations, learn to make good first impressions and develop the art of small talk. The Holiday and Final Class will feature fun novelty dances.
FIFTH GRADE
Friday Early Evenings, 5:30-6:30 p.m. (8 sessions)
The boys and girls will be learning and practicing basic social etiquette while being taught to Waltz, Cha-Cha, Fox Trot and Swing dance. Rock-n-Roll and line dances with current music will also be included to add to the fun! Through ballroom dancing, the boys and girls will begin to develop a sense of ease and confidence in social situations, learn to make good first impressions and develop the art of small talk. The Holiday and Final Class will feature fun novelty dances.
SIXTH GRADE
Friday evenings, 7:00-8:00 p.m. (8 sessions)
In order to provide a more varied program, a special series of dance nights has been planned. The dance nights will provide so much more than dancing. The dancing will be a wonderful way for children to interact socially, to develop confidence in social situations with their peers and to experience social dancing. The boys and girls will also learn other aspects of social etiquette such as introductions, making good first impressions and developing the art of small talk.
