Paul B. Sygall M.D., attending anesthesiologist and interventional pain management consultant at Greenwich Hospital, visited Brunswick to discuss the dangers and risks of vaping with Upper School students and faculty on Monday, November 20.
Sygall presented the facts about vaping — the definition, the main ingredients, the lack of standardization, the cognitive effects, the technical flaws, and the addiction potential of nicotine — as they are known by researches and doctors today, emphasizing that much of the danger lies in the potential harmful revelations of future study.
“But based on the facts we have now, it doesn’t seem like a smart idea,” Sygall said. “It’s a slippery slope that starts with the first drag and can lead to addiction. If you’re even thinking about it, then you’re not thinking.”
