Seniors Merit National Recognition for Scholarship
Seniors Wesley Peisch and Ben Shore were announced on Wednesday, Sept. 13, as semifinalists in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program, joining 16,000 other students nationwide.
The group of semifinalists, all of whom entered by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.
"Wesley and Ben are both wonderful young men — dedicated, intelligent, and curious scholars. We are very pleased with their well-deserved recognition," Headmaster Thomas W. Philip said.
“Beyond this national accomplishment, however, Wesley and Ben have long been active and inspiring members of our student body — contributing in so many ways to our school community.”
All semifinalists have an opportunity to continue in the competition for approximately 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level of the competition.
