Brunswick and Hill Academy combined for 29 goals during Tuesday evening's game on Cosby Field, with the home team emerging victorious by a final score of 19-10.
The Bruins, off to a slow start, dug themselves into a 4-1 first-quarter deficit. Hill showed no signs of a long bus ride, getting up and down the field, taking advantage of transition play, and pushing the pace.
Sophomore Rick Giordano and senior Casey Quinson rallied Brunswick back from down 5-2 to up 6-5 with a two-and-a-half minute run in the middle of the second quarter. Senior Payton Anderson added one as well before Hill stymied the Bruin momentum and regained the lead – 8-7 Hill after two.
Brunswick got right to work with two goals from senior Hudson Hausmann 51 seconds into the third quarter. This started Hausmann's six-goal, second-half performance as he captained the offense to an explosive 12-goal half.
The Bruins' offense netted five fourth quarter goals from four different goal scorers and the defense locked up, surrendering only two second-half goals, to really separate from their Canadian opponents.
Brunswick heads north up Route 22 on Friday night to face off against Trinity-Pawling at 5 p.m.
