The varsity baseball team was beaten 6-0 by a very talented Cheshire Academy team on Monday.
Cheshire threw a very talented arm, who was able to keep the offense to limited hits and no runs. He pounded the zone with multiple pitches and kept the Brunswick bats off balance all afternoon.
Jackson Shepelsky got the start on the mound and gave five very solid innings of work for the Bruins. He was very efficient and kept the Cheshire offense at bay. But it was one swing that made the difference – a three-run home run to straight away center field that sparked the Cheshire lineup.
Teddy Bancroft came on in relief of Shepelsky in the sixth and threw a very efficient inning. This gave the Bruins one more opportunity to bat in the top of the seventh.
The Bruins went down swinging but couldn't break through.
Brunswick looks to bounce back as the team heads into the rest of the week. Next up is another FAA matchup against St. Luke’s at home. Calder Glassman will be on the mound.
