Brunswick qualified five wrestlers for the 88th Annual National Prep Wrestling Championships held at Lehigh University's Stabler Arena.
Owen Bartoszek '27, Christian Yanoti '25, Michael Accetta '24, Alec Harned '26, and Jack Degl '25 all earned spots at the national tournament by placing top six in New England at their respective weight classes.
Both Harned (32-9) and Degl (26-10) continued their strong seasons by advancing in this tournament.
Wrestling at 144 lb., Harned got his 23rd pin of the season in his match against an opponent from St. John's School (TX), while Degl earned a 5-1 decision against his opponent from The Kincaid School (TX) at 157 lb.
Accetta (28-8), wrestling at 132 lb., lost two incredibly close decisions to be eliminated in the opening rounds of the tournament. The Bruins' co-captain had his opponent from Saint Frances Academy (MD) on his back in a cradle in the closing seconds of his opening match in the Round of 64, but ultimately lost by a score of 11-9. In his next match, Accetta lost in the third overtime period. Yanoti (29-9) is now a two-time national qualifier, while Bartoszek (27-11) made nationals for the first time.
