After a somewhat flat first period, the Bruins regrouped and earned a well-deserved 5-0 shutout for goaltender James Cragin against Avon Old Farms on Wednesday.
Ben Taylor got the scoring going with a two-goal shift in the second period, and senior Jack Rinaldi buried a rebound to put the Bruins up 3-0 after two. It was Rinaldi’s first goal of the season, capped off by a spectacular "celly."
The main focus of the third was to keep to home team’s side of the scoreboard clean, and through dominant play on both ends of the ice and sustained possession, Avon was kept on its heels throughout the period. Teddy Cooney and Luke Dougherty added the final goals to make it 5-0 in the end.
Assists were credited to Matt Fry, Charlie Stevens (2), Dougherty, Michael Contino, Rinaldi, Miller Yonce, and Sebi DeAngelis.
Next up for the Bruins is a rematch against a strong Fairfield Prep team on Monday at Hartong Rink – 5 p.m. puck-drop.
