Brunswick earned a 6-2 victory against visiting Darien High School on Monday evening at Hartong Rink.
Darien was forced to dress quickly after arriving late to Hartong Rink, and they did a good job keeping up with the Bruins through the first two periods.
After Brunswick gave up a goal early in the first, Ben Taylor answered back with 8:29 to go, and Charlie Stevens grabbed the lead with just under four minutes left in the stanza. 2-1 Brunswick after one.
Michael Contino sniped one in the upper left corner three minutes into the second off a clean face-off win by Sebi DeAngelis, but soon afterwards Darien netted another off a nifty deflection, and it was 3-2 Brunswick after two.
With 10:10 left in the third, DeAngelis gave Brunswick a two-goal lead, and then Stevens threaded the puck between his legs to beat a defender before saucing it over the glove of the Darien goaltender. Contino completed the scoring with 5:40 remaining.
Seven different players contributed assists in the contest – Ryan Kaseta (2), Contino, Paul Triggiani, DeAngelis, Jack Konzerowsky, Taylor, and Rhys Brooks.
Next for the Bruins is an away game against the Winged Beavers of Avon on Wednesday – 5 p.m. puck-drop.
