Brunswick lost a heartbreaker at the buzzer to King, 64-63, on Friday evening in Dann Gym.
After jumping out to a 10-0 lead, the Bruins were plagued by foul trouble that sent JP Pray to the bench for most of the first half and allowed the Vikings back into the game. Brunswick did everything it could to stay afloat, including two three pointers from freshman Brandon Jean, and managed to take a 27-25 lead into the break.
The two teams traded baskets for the first four minutes of the second half until Pray was forced back to the bench after picking up his third foul, which led to another run from the visitors. Down by eight with four minutes remaining, Brunswick came roaring back with an 11-0 run and took the lead 63-60 with a minute and a half to play.
Unfortunately for the home team, a five second violation was called on their final possession, leading to a King basket as time expired.
Brandon Jean stepped up big with 19 points as he was thrust into his first major action of the season. Ethan Long had 14 and Jack Stevens added 13.
