With a 5-2 win over Hopkins on Wednesday, the Brunswick squash team earned a spot in the final round of the FAA tournament. The semifinal was a rematch of the Bruins' meeting with Hopkins earlier this season, which they also won.
Gabe Levy, Bennett Klein, and Jackson Pastel began the day for Brunswick at #6, #4, and #1. Gabe Levy and captain Bennett Klein each notched 3-0 victories over their opponents. Jackson Pastel faced a tough, uphill battle, and despite a valiant effort lost in three games to one of the best U15 players in the country.
Although he was looking for revenge after a tough five game loss earlier in the month, Alex DeLuca lost to his Hopkins opponent at #2, and the match score was levelled at two apiece.
But from that point it was all Bruins, as in quick succession Subir Garg, Eric Lorenz, and Carson Beck closed out the semifinal matchup with 3-0 victories each at #7, #5, and #3.
Brunswick will face local rival RCDS in the final of the FAA tournament on Friday afternoon at the Stephens Squash Center.
