Pacifico '29 Breaks Diving Record in Brunswick Win
Brunswick defeated Division I rival Hotchkiss, 98-78, on Saturday in Lakeville, Conn.
The challenge for the team was that everyone was entered in their weaker events or events they had never swum. Despite that obstacle, the boys won all eleven swimming events and placed second in diving – winning the meet with a final score of 98 to 78. The boys began the meet by using a cheer shared yesterday by Gavin Molloy '21: "Against each other, for each other." The team agreed that no matter who the team races, they will always challenge each other to be competitive, improve, and better the team. It defined the day very nicely.
On top of the win, 'Wick Middle School student Max Pacifico '29 broke one of the two oldest Brunswick swim team records: the diving record. His score of 159.0 knocked Jake Charney '20 off the record board. Charney scored 158.25 in 2018 and enjoyed the second-longest record in team history until Saturday.
