'Wick Suffers First Loss of the Season

The Bruins lost a hard-fought contest against Division I rival Exeter – a program with a history of 15 NEPSAC Championships – on Saturday afternoon. Racing a team with Exeter’s history is always a highlight of the year, and the Big Red's win brings 'Wick's career record to three wins and three losses against the perennial power.

Coming off a challenging training trip in Florida, the young Bruins were ready to race and needed to step up and perform lifetime bests in-season to have a chance to win the meet. Unfortunately, they came up short in several of those races. The team knew it would take three great swims per event to win, and while 'Wick’s speed and depth were evident, Exeter was the stronger team on Saturday.

The day was highlighted by four event victories for Brunswick: two individual wins from Ben Wu one from Rory O’Connor, and the boys closed the meet by winning the 400FR relay.

A loss to Exeter last year jump started a great championship run for Brunswick – and as the team and coaches hope, this loss will spark a similar hunger in the Bruins as they head into the 2024 championship season.
