The varsity squash team opened its season on Thursday at Stephens Squash Center and earned a solid 7-0 victory against Greens Farms Academy.
After some hard work in practice, the Bruins fitness was on display in their first competitive matches of the year. The day was also notable for some newcomers to the team: sophomore Ike Edmands, and freshmen Jackson Pastel, Carson Beck, and Gabe Levy all made their Brunswick debuts.
Senior captain Bennett Klein opened the day with a resounding win at #4. Jackson Pastel, Carson Beck, Eric Lorenz, and Gabe Levy all followed apace with victories over their opponents. The highlight of the night was Ike Edmands' hard fought victory at the #1 position against a talented GFA opponent. The match featured thrilling shots from both players, but after dropping the first game, Edmands dug deep to come out ahead and complete the sweep for the Bruins.
The varsity squad heads down to Philadelphia this weekend for big rivalry matches against Episcopal, Haverford, and St. Andrew's (FL).
