Quality Playing in Wick JV Win Against German International

German International usually has skilled, technical players and puts up a good fight. The first half was no different, as it ended 0-0. We had more looks on goal than they did, but we couldn't convert our chances.

In the second half, we started with a higher intensity. We were able to break open the defense more effectively. John Guza, Blake Levy, and Ben Taylor created problems for the back line all day. On one particular attempt, Guza was fouled just outside the box to set up a free kick from about 25 yards out. Gianfranco Fajardo noticed the wall was not set up properly and sent a low-driven ball to the far post, making us to go up 1-0. This is Gianfranco's sixth goal of the season.

Guza was our next goal scorer when he broke free from a few defenders to create enough space inside the box to hit a ball off the left post. At this point, we were pressing high and shooting early to create havoc. Our last goal came when Declan Moran played a perfectly weighted ball to the right wing for Luke Martinez to run onto. Luke took two touches and hit the ball across the goal mouth to go up 3-0. Luke has been prolific in offense for us, scoring six goals in our last seven games.

German International was able to put one away on a solo effort from their best player, but it wasn’t enough. The game ended 3-1 in our favor.
