Four-Game Win Streak Ends for Bruins at Salisbury

Brunswick traveled to Salisbury on Wednesday, returning home with a 3-0 loss to end the team’s four-game winning streak.

The hosts capitalized on chances in the opening minutes of both halves (7th and 48th minutes), then ended the match with a final goal in the 90th as Brunswick had numbers up trying to score.

The Bruins held their own in physical battle in all phases of play and generated a number of scoring opportunities throughout the match. Senior Ben Matitia laced a shot toward goal that hit the crossbar (37th), classmate Kieran Raker had a narrow miss wide on a 1-v-1 (49th), and junior Patrick O’Donohue had a strike on goal that required a nice save from the Salisbury GK (72nd).

Centerbacks Ollie Leonard ’25 and Johnny Saunders ’24 once again played 90 minutes in the back, along with Charlie Perkins ’26 on the left side.

Juniors Will Higgs and Theo Perkins played quality minutes in the midfield, and seniors Tyler Quake and Rowan Glanville also had good showings with their play in possession and defensively.

Senior GK Phil Stabinsky (six saves) had a fine showing in net — Salisbury’s first two goals were both well placed strikes out of his reach, and he came up big on a breakaway late in the first half to keep the score line at 1-0.

The Bruins return to the field on Saturday for an FAA friendly (non-league) matchup with St. Luke’s.
