Brunswick topped Hamden Hall 6-0 in FAA action on the road on Thursday, as Bruin pitcher Trystan Sarcone tossed a four-hit shutout. With the win, Brunswick improves to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
The Bruins scored four runs in the top of the fourth to break a scoreless tie.
In the frame, Ethan Hynes smacked a lead-off double and reached third on a James Sassi single. Charlie Sealy followed with a single to center, plating both Hynes and Sassi. Later in the inning, Sealy stole second and reached third base before scoring on a passed ball with one out to give the visitors a 3-0 lead.
The Bruins added their fourth run in the inning using a two-out, two-hit rally sparked by a pair of singles. Santiago Riera reached second base on a single and a fielding error, while Sarcone knocked Riera home on with an RBI single to left field.
Brunswick added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh on a bases-loaded walk to Sealy and an RBI single by Tommy Napolitano, giving the Bruins a 6-0 lead.
Sarcone (2-0) picked up the complete-game victory, tossing scoreless 7.0 innings while punching-out seven batters. On the season, Sarcone’s ERA stands at 0.00, as the lefty has tossed 19.0 scoreless innings with 19 strikeouts, while allowing just six free passes and nine hits.
Seven Bruins combined for 10 hits on the day, as Riera led the team with three singles. Aaron Sabato added a pair of singles, as Sealy chipped in with a team-high three RBI along with a single. Hynes had the lone extra-base hit, a double, in the fourth inning.
