Callaghan '16 Named National Merit Scholarship Winner
Brunswick graduate Ryan Callaghan was among the approximately 3,000 students announced this week as 2016 National Merit Scholarship recipients.
“It’s an honor to have my hard work recognized by my school, and I know it wouldn't be possible without the support of my family, teachers, and friends,” said Callaghan, who will attend Northwestern University in the fall.
The National Merit Scholarship Program recognizes students who scored in the top 1 percent on the 2014 preliminary SAT, the program’s qualifying test, and who have performed exceptionally throughout their academic careers in high school.
Headmaster Tom Philip expressed pride when learning of Callaghan’s award.
“Ryan is a remarkable young man and a gifted and curious student,” Philip said. “We'll miss him next year as he heads off to college.”
