Sportsmanship is one of the greatest lessons Brunswick strives to impart on its boys. The Lower School wrestling tournament, a 30 year tradition at the School, teaches young athletes the basic wrestling stance, followed by take-down and pinning techniques. Competition brackets are determined by separating each grade--1 through 4-- into 5 or 6 weight classes. As the tournament progresses, the top two wrestlers in each weight class wrestle each other at Assembly in front of their peers and LS faculty and staff: an event anticipated by all. "This wrestling tournament and athletic unit not only teaches the boys how to wrestle properly, but how to win and lose," said Marc Strileckis, Lower School gym teacher and athletic trainer.
