Late Rally Propels Bruins to FAA Win

The Brunswick baseball team had another hard earned victory on Tuesday afternoon, coming back to beat King, 4-3, with the go-ahead run coming in the sixth inning.

King jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but Brunswick battled back and took the lead late for the win.

Nick Stern got the start on the mound – the first of his career at Brunswick – and grinded out two innings.

Andrew Gally, in his first appearance for the Bruins, came on in relief and provided three very strong innings. Jackson Cunningham came in for the sixth and Jerry Guzman closed the door in the seventh.

The Brunswick offense was on attack all afternoon and threatened in just about every inning with runners in scoring position. In the second inning, Brunswick worked the bases loaded and Connor Jones delivered a two-run double, cutting the King lead to 3-2.

From there, it was a back-and-forth defensive and pitching battle, as each team refused to give an inch to the opposition. That was until the sixth inning, when Brunswick once again found themselves in a two-out, bases-loaded situation. Reed Hyde stepped up to the plate and came through with a clutch two-RBI single to give the Bruins the lead.

Overall, it was a well-rounded victory for Brunswick: solid pitching, good defense, and timely hitting were the keys. The Bruins next matchup will be their final regular season game as they hit the road to face off against a talented St. Luke's team. Teddy Bancroft will get the start.
