Basketball Loses Regular Season Finale, Earns FAA Tourney Bid
Brunswick dropped its regular season finale to Greens Farms on Thursday night, 77-63. The Senior Night setback to the FAA rivals caps the Bruins overall record at 8-14 and a league mark of 3-9. Brunswick, the fourth seed in the upcoming FAA Tournament, will play top-seeded St. Luke’s in a semifinal game on the road on Tuesday, February 28. Tip-off is slated for 4:30 p.m.
Brunswick held its only lead at 2-0, as the Dragons (14-6, 10-2) surpassed the Bruins in the early going and took a 39-27 lead at the break.
The hosts trimmed the deficit to six points in the opening minutes of the second half before the visitors went on 25-12 run, building a 68-47 lead with 3:00 remaining. The Bruins responded with an 11-0 run over the next 1:35, setting the score at 68-58 with 1:25 left in the game. James Sealy sank two three-pointers during the scoring burst.
Greens Farms closed out the contest with a 9-5 burst for the 77-63 final.
Four Bruins netted double figures, as Dan Arnold led the team with 15 points. Sealy netted a trio of threes en route to 13 total points, as Colin Mulshine scored 12 and Henry Caponiti chipped in 10 points. It was the final home game for seniors: Khari Wilson, Sam Mazzullo, Cedric Lafleur and Kevonne Wilder.
