Brunswick capped the 2017 track and field season with a first-place finish in the 4x100 meter relay at the NEPSTA Division II Track and Field Championships, held at Williston Northampton on Saturday. The gold-medal finish of 43.22 seconds set a Brunswick record, as the Bruins placed ninth overall in the team rankings with 19 team points.
Competing against Trinity-Pawling and Hotchkiss, the Bruins fell to the rival schools by similar 78-24 margins on Wednesday. Leading Brunswick was Cassius Johnson and his school-record tying run of 22.6 in the 200. Johnson won the 200, while finishing second in the 100 with a personal-best 11.0. Kyle Raker took second in the 1500 with a career-best time of 4:37.4.
The Brunswick track team earned some impressive results against five other schools at a relay-only meet at Masters on Saturday, including a school-record win in the sprint medley relay along with a top finish in the 4x100 relay. The Bruins head to Taft for another meet on Saturday, April 22.
