Sailors Win County Gold Cup

Brunswick topped five members of the Fairfield County Sailing League (FCSL) to win the Gold Cup on Wednesday at the Indian Harbor Yacht Club. The win wraps up the 2018 season for the Bruins, as the team finished the season ranked second in the FCSL behind Greenwich High and was 14th overall in New England in team racing. 

 

The top six teams in the FCSL competed in a round robin format, as the boats took to the water with favorable winds (8-10 knots) and rough swells combined with a persistent rain. After 15 races, Brunswick finished undefeated (5-0), while Fairfield Prep (3-2) was second.

 

In the season finale, all six members of the team competed for Brunswick with captains Will George and George Coyle skippering with Leyton Borcherding. Matthew Hein, Ryan Heinzerling, and Carlos Flores rounding out the boats as crew.
