Hockey Punches Ticket to NEPSAC Finals with Shut-Out Win

After a 5-0 dismantling of top-seeded Northfield Mount Hermon (NMH) in the semifinal round of the NESPAC’s Martin/Earl (Large School) Tournament on Saturday afternoon, #5 Brunswick earned a spot in the tournament finals against #3 Thayer Academy on Sunday at St. Anselm’s College in Manchester, N.H.

 

During the road playoff win, the Bruins out-shot the hosts 45-22, as five different Bruins scored. Brunswick goalie Dan Dachille turned away all 22 shots by NMH (23-7-3) to preserve the shut-out win.

 

Brunswick jumped out to a 2-0 lead with just over six minutes burned off the first period clock. Tom Richter (10^th goal) got the Bruins on the board 3:12 into the contest, as Charles Shaffer followed with his 15^th tally less than three minutes later.

 

In the second period, the Bruins needed less than two minutes of action to make it a 4-0 contest. Christian LeSueur netted his team-leading 17^th goal 49 second into the frame, while Edward Glassmeyer (4th goal) followed with a tally exactly one minute later.

 

Late in the third period, Henry Hill (3^rd goal) capped the scoring for the Bruins.

 

Sunday’s contest against #3 Thayer (17-10-1) will be the first-ever NEPSAC title game for the fifth-seeded Bruins (17-12-4).
