Three Skiers Make Top Six, as Team Finishes 10th at State Open
Brunswick places three skiers in the top six at the Connecticut State Open, as the Bruins finished 10th overall out of 13 schools at Mount Southington on Wednesday. Ethan Hynes finished second against 127 racers, while Jose Riera was fourth and Ian Murray held onto sixth place.
Brunswick's top six skiers combined for a time of 274.45 to finish in 10th place, while Fairfield Prep won the team title with a total time of 259.12. The Bruins were 3.70 seconds behind the ninth-place squad from Greenwich High.
Hynes had the fastest time in the opening run (21.64) and finished his second run in 20.39, for a combined time of 42.03. Hynes was only .05 seconds off the top time, set by a Fairfield Prep racer. Riera finished his two runs in 42.25, while Murray clocked a time of 42.43.
The difference from the top finisher (41.98) to twelfth-place (42.99) was 1.01 seconds.
Brunswick's four other finishers were: Harry Dahl (46.06), Ryan Heinzerling (48.02), Adam Morris (53.66) and Theo Coupe (55.99).
