Squash ‘A’ Reaches D1 National Finals, ‘B’ Team Heads to D1 Consolation Final

Top-seeded Brunswick ‘A’ swept its third-straight opponent at the 2018 HEAD U.S. High School Team Championships, as the Bruins beat #4 Episcopal in the Division 1 semifinals on Saturday, 7-0. The Bruins will face rival #2 Haverford at the Philadelphia Cricket Club for the Justi Cup on Sunday, February 4, at 2:00 p.m.

 

This is the seventh-straight finals appearance by Brunswick, and 11^th overall, dating back to 2004. Sunday’s championship is also a rematch of the previous two title matches. In 2016, Brunswick topped Haverford for the crown, 4-3, while Haverford returned the favor last year, beating the Bruins by a 5-2 margin for the title.

 

Ahead of the semifinal win, the Bruins ‘A’ team (11-0) swept McDonogh (Md.) 7-0 in the quarterfinal round at the Philadelphia Cricket Club on Saturday morning.

 

In the Division 1 consolation semifinals on Saturday, the Brunswick ‘B’ team rolled past Springside Chestnut Hill, 5-2. The 12-1 Bruins ‘B’ squad will face Hotchkiss in the ninth-place game on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
