Basketball Falls to King

King rallied from an early 21-6 deficit to defeat Brunswick in Dann Gym on Friday night, 63-56. The loss drops the Bruins’ record to 3-14 overall and 2-8 in FAA action, as Brunswick has four league games remaining in the regular season.

In the first half, the Vikings trimmed the opening 15-point deficit with a 16-4 run, as the visitors made it a 25-22 contest with 2:30 left to play in the half.

The Bruins countered with a 7-2 run to close out the half, keyed by five points from Kevonne Wilder, as Brunswick took a 32-24 lead at the break.

King quickly closed the gap to start the second half, as the teams exchanged the lead several times during the midpoint of the frame. Trailing 50-47, the Bruins went on a 8-0 spurt to take a 55-50 lead around the four-minute mark.

King answered with six points on back-to-back traditional three-point plays, as the vistors regained the lead at 56-55, with 2:15 left to play.

That six-point burst by King sparked a 13-1 run down the stretch, as the Vikings pulled away for the 63-56 victory.

A trio of Bruins hit double-digits in scoring, as Wilder led the team with 13 points on 5-9 shooting from the field, including 3-6 from behind the arc. Tristan Joseph added a dozen points, while Colin Mulshine netted 11. Jack Molloy added eight points and 10 rebounds, as Harrison Caponiti also grabbed 10 boards for the Bruins.
