Ian Murray led a trio of Brunswick skiers to a one-two-three podium finish at the CISL race at Mt. Southington on Wednesday evening. Jose Riera followed Murray for second and Ethan Hynes placed third, as the Bruins went 4-2 overall against CISL competition.
Murray was the fastest on each of the two runs, as the co-captain finished with an overall top time of 45.28 seconds. Riera finished the two runs in 46.15, edging Hynes by just .04 seconds to hold onto second place. The next three finishers for Brunswick were Harry Dahl (49), Ryan Heinzerling (56) and Jamie Meindl (63).
The Brunswick team time of 299.36, based on the top six finishers, bested Darien H.S. (303.63), Gilbert H.S. (DQ) and New Canaan H.S. (DQ). A pair of schools, Fairfield H.S. (295.65) and Wilton H.S. (295.16) finished with better team times than Brunswick on Wednesday.
With another strong showing, the Bruins (14-8) have qualified for the Connecticut State Championships on February 28. Ahead of that event, the Bruins have another CISL race scheduled on Wednesday, February 7, followed by the NEPSAC Championships at Gunstock Mountain (N.H.) a week later on Valentine’s Day.
