Late Goal Boosts Soccer Past Hopkins

In front of a boisterous and overflowing Homecoming crowd under the lights on Cosby Field, Brunswick’s Stevie Lopez netted the eventual game-winner in the 83rd minute against Hopkins on Friday night.

The shut-out win evens the Bruins record at 6-6-1, as the Hilltoppers fall to 9-3-1 overall.

On the scoring tally, Nick Boardman cut through the Hopkins’ defense and played a ball to Lopez near the penalty stripe. Lopez added a touch before besting the Hilltopper goalie top-left for the goal.

The Brunswick defense, including Ben Powers, Jamie Polak, and Jack Withstandley, had another strong showing in front of goalie Harry Barringer (six saves).

The Bruins head to Millbrook for a road game on Wednesday, November 1.
