Two Bruins Tabbed All-State in Baseball, Aaron Sabato Named All-Metro

Juniors Aaron Sabato and Trystan Sarcone were named First Team All-Connecticut by News12Varsity.com. The duo led the baseball team to a 14-6 overall record and a runner-up finish in the FAA Championship this season. Sabato was also recognized by News12Varsity.com as a Second Team All-Metro selection.

 

Sabato, playing shortstop for the Bruins, led the team in home runs (9), RBI (20), runs scored (20), walks (19), and batting average (.444). Additionally, Sabato was tops for the Bruins in slugging with an eye-popping .963 as well as OPS (1.550). The slugger also closed out two games for Brunswick, picking up a save over 2.1 innings of work and holding a 0.00 ERA.

 

The Second Team All-Metro selection for Sabato encompasses Connecticut, New Jersey, Long Island, and New York City.

 

Sarcone, the ace of the staff, went a perfect 6-0 on the hill for Brunswick. The lefty workhorse logged a team-high 45.0 innings over eight appearances, adding a save. Sarcone compiled a miniscule 1.089 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP, while striking out a team-best 52 batters. When not pitching, Sarcone was an everyday player in the outfield, leading the team with 25 hits. The right-handed hitter tied for the team lead with five doubles and was second in both runs scored (17) and batting average (.368).
