JV Hockey Finishes Season with Win

In a chance to avenge their only loss of the season, the Bruins played three dominant periods of hockey, sealing a home win over Frederick Gunn to finish the season on a high note.

Seniors Luke Dougherty, Sebi DeAngelis, and Jack Rinaldi started the game for the Bruins and wasted no time getting the ball rolling as Rinaldi roofed a backhand over the shoulder of the Highlander goaltender just 24 seconds into the contest with both DeAngelis and Dougherty assisting the effort. Mike Contino then potted the next off a pass from Ryan Kaseta, making it 2-0 Brunswick after one. 

A two-goal lead never seems enough, but the Bruins were confident at the first ice cut and knew the game was in their hands. 

Five minutes into the second Matt Fry netted one with help from Teddy Cooney and Charlie Stevens, and Rinaldi got his second of the game a couple of minutes later, finishing a rebound off Miller Yonce's shot.

Stevens then got the fifth unanswered goal for Brunswick with assists from Cooney and Fry, but the Highlanders answered back with just under three minutes left in the second. It was 5-1 Bruins after two.

Freshman Jack Konzerowsky took it from there, scoring two goals in the third stanza with great feeds from Contino and Stevens. Fry earned a secondary assist on the first one. 

DeAngelis put the finishing touch on the afternoon with a tip-in off Cooney’s shot from the point with just 47.7 seconds on the clock, finalizing a wonderful season for the JV Hockey team. 

Sophomore James Cragin remained unbeaten this winter, which is a word that can now be spoken freely. He had another stellar performance between the pipes, and although the crossbar was his friend a couple of times, he managed to stop 19 shots - several of which were on Highlander breakaways. 

The Bruins worked hard and played tough all season. Their impressive final record of 11-1 is well-deserved.
