A host of Brunswick soccer players earned post-season honors after a successful fall 2023 season. The team finished with a 9–9–1 record against a very strong schedule, including many teams that qualified for New England tournaments.
The James Brown Award was presented to senior captain Tyler Quake. This award is given to the player who contributes most to the character and leadership of the team. A three-year varsity player, Quake was a workhorse in midfield and contributed significant minutes as an attacking winger. He was invited to play and participated in the postseason WNEPSSA All-Star game.
Kieran Raker was named to the Class A All-NEPSAC team, the Connecticut Soccer Coaches’ All-State Team, and earned the team’s MVP award. A prolific scorer, Raker tallied 20 goals during the season, setting a school record for most goals scored in a single season. Raker is committed to play soccer at Carnegie Mellon University after graduating from Brunswick this spring.
Will Higgs was named Honorable Mention on the Class A All-NEPSAC team and played in the Juniors NEPSAC All Star game at the end of the season. Higgs is a three-year varsity player who filled the important role of defensive center midfielder on the Brunswick squad and rarely came off the field. Higgs was elected captain for the Fall 2024 season.
Ollie Leonard, a junior captain this year, played in the WNEPSSA All-Star game. Leonard was re-elected captain for the Fall 2024 season. He is a three-year varsity player and anchors the defense, playing at the important centerback position.
Finally, Johnny Saunders was recognized for his contribution to the team by being invited to play in the Seniors NEPSAC All-Star game. Saunders is a four-year varsity player who played virtually every minute of every game this year, filling the important role of left-side centerback.
