JV1 Ends the Season with Another Win at Westminster

We were able to finish the season and unbeaten streak with a win. JV1 has not lost a game since September 27th! Wick was in complete control during the first half. The boys were able to put 4 away quickly. The first goal came from Ben Taylor on a solo effort, weaving in and out of three defenders for the easy tuck near post. The second goal started and ended with Ben Taylor. In possession of the ball, he swiftly beat a defender on the sideline and played a ball centrally to Blake Levy, who then played it back to Taylor for the finish. The third goal was finished by Keane Zorub, assisted by Reid Glanville, who played a lofty, well-placed ball into the box from the right-wing position. The fourth goal gave Taylor a hat trick—another solo effort straight into the box with a low, driven ball to beat the keeper. Westy put one away just before the half in a quick counterattack.

 

To start the second half, we played many guys out of position. Taylor went in goal, Nook moved from between the sticks to up top, and our back line had a chance to play up as strikers. Everybody enjoyed the playing time, but we grew disorganized with these changes on the field. The boys were unable to put another one away. Westy scored about halfway into the half to cap the scoring at 4-2. This win makes it 15 straight games that we go unbeaten; Ben Taylor got his second hat trick of the season. It was a great effort from all 13 who played today and an outstanding way to cap our season.

Congratulations to all the players in the roster. They played beyond the initial expectations, and many grew immensely as players on their way to making varsity next year!
