Thirds Soccer Wins Big Game at King

The Thirds Team dominated play against King School during Thursday afternoon's game, as Lucas Garcia converted twice and Jamie McCutcheon scored what would eventually be the game-winner to lead the Bruins to a 3-2 win.

The Vikings struck first on an unfortunate hand-ball penalty kick in the 16th minute of play and took some of the wind out of the sails of the Bruins. Brunswick fought back and continued its domination of play and finally evened the tally at minute 27 with Garcia's first goal of the match.

Eleven minutes into the second half, Garcia struck again and put Brunswick in the lead for the first time in the game. Countless opportunities were either missed by the Bruins or well-saved by the Vikings' goaltender.

Only five minutes after Garcia completed his brace, McCutcheon scored a beauty from the wide right and provided the two-goal cushion needed to ensure the win. King would make it interesting with a late goal only three minutes before the final whistle, but the Bruins would hang on to take a well-deserved victory off that field and back to Maher Avenue.
