Crew Sweeps Poughkeepsie Regatta

Brunswick swept its events at this year's Poughkeepsie Regatta, a three-mile (4800m) race on the mighty Hudson River, on Saturday afternoon.

Brunswick started the day by taking 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the coxed fours among a small field of eight boats. With a tail wind and a particularly strong tail current, the crew of stroke Kiran Marsh '24, Jack McEntire '25, Justin Guo '26, bow Colin Devine '24, and coxswain / co-captain Lucas Tan '24 covered the course in a time of 15:08. Their teammates, stroke Henry Putnam '24, co-captain Jake Murphy '24, Henry Roth '25, bow Tony Zhu '25, and coxswain Matthew Lejdstrom '24, were just 10 seconds back in 2nd place.

Those eight rowers "doubled-up" and went out again for a second race in an eight; they won that race over a small field of six boats. Brunswick's second entry in the eights category finished in second place.

It was Brunswick's first time attending this regatta, which is held on a historic stretch of the Hudson River that was used for the old IRA/Poughkeepsie Regatta (collegiate national championships) from 1895-1949.
