Varsity squash fell to Kent, 6-1, in the finals of the New England Championship on Sunday afternoon.
It was a repeat of last year's New England finals and of a match earlier in this year's regular season, when the Lions also defeated the Bruins by a score of 6-1.
The Bruins fell behind the defending national champions early and could not recover. Captain Ryan Kulsakdinun lost at #7, followed by Will Newman at #2 and Henry Raine at #4. Kent sealed the New England title after Will Newton lost a well-contested match at #6.
Despite being mathematically eliminated, the Bruins fought to the end. Johan Hodgson had an impressive performance in a loss at #1. Oliver Velasco lost an epic five-game match at #3. Finally, Cole Cline put Brunswick on the board with a win in a five-gamer of his own at #5.
The Bruins will prepare for the national championship next weekend, Feb. 24-26, at the Arlen Specter Center in Philadelphia.
