Bruins Earn All-Conference, Michalik Named Co-Defensive Player of the Year

After earning its first-ever Class A “Top” Bowl game victory — as well as its first-ever win in a bowl game over a non-ISL opponent — the Brunswick football team was well represented on the Northeast Prep Football Conference All-League teams announced this week.

Senior DB Luke Michalik — who racked up 91 total tackles, three sacks, three tackles for loss, two interceptions, one touchdown, three forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries — headlined the group by winning Co-Defensive Player of the Year.

Michalik was joined on the first-team defense by classmate Jackson Wolfram, whose statistical line included 49 total tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. Junior Hudson Hausmann, who recorded 51 tackles and two fumble recoveries, along with sophomore Ethan Long, who racked up 31 tackles, five tackles for loss, three interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and allowed zero passes to be completed on him, also earned spots on the first team.

Brunswick’s offense had six players named to the first team. Senior Tomas Delgado earned first-team honors as a wide receiver. He led the Bruins with 43 receptions, 612 receiving yards, and nine receiving touchdowns, also accounting for 1,063 all-purpose yards.

Junior RB Bryce Davis was also selected as a first teamer. Davis rushed for 1,202 yards and 17 touchdowns, also adding 22 catches for 262 yards, one touchdown, and 1,614 all-purpose yards. Junior QB Elijah Cromartie’s 64% completion percentage, 16 touchdowns, two interceptions, and 1,403 yards passing earned him a spot on the top team.

Senior offensive linemen Miles Walker and Will Janis, along with junior Jadon Lafontant, were named to the first-team offense, while fellow lineman Matty Augustine was recognized as a second teamer. The group paved the way for a strong ’Wick running game, as the team rushed for 1,836 yards and 25 touchdowns, also protecting the quarterback in the passing game, giving up only eight sacks on almost 200 dropbacks.

Oliver Reynolds, the team’s kicker, was the last Bruin to tab first-team all-conference as a special teamer. Reynolds was 32/33 on PATs and 5/5 on field goals.

Three other Bruins earned second-team accolades: senior TE Riley Gilsenan, senior DL Jurgis Schmedlen, and junior DL EJ Perez. And two more Bruins earned honorable mention: senior WR Jason Agudelo and junior LB Tommy Pope.
