Taft Tops Bruins on the Pitch

Brunswick fell to visiting WNEPSSA powerhouse Taft by a score of 7-0 on Saturday afternoon on Carroll Field.

Taft scored two quick goals in the 20th and 21st minutes to take a two-goal lead after 45 minutes of action.

Second-half tallies were recorded in the 54th, 60th, 68th, 70th, and 79th minutes.

Despite the lopsided score, the Bruins held their own and didn't let up. The centerback duo of Douglas Otton ’23 and Charlie Perkins ’26 continues to be solid, with Sebastian Medina ’25 also putting on a strong defensive showing in the fullback position.

Sophomore John Buttafuoco came off the bench in the 15th minute and didn't leave the field, playing really impactful minutes on the wing against some of Taft's most talented players. A nod is also due to junior Tyler Quake, who stepped up big in the midfield, playing 90 minutes out of his natural position to fill in for missing players and holding his own in that spot.

Senior Will Walker started in net for ’Wick, making eight saves on the day in 60 minutes of play. Junior GK Philip Stabinsky came in for relief, recording three saves in his varsity debut.

The Bruins are back in action on Saturday and will travel to Loomis.
