Brunswick’s top crews came away with hard earned wins over Andover and Hanover in tough conditions on the Merrimack River on Saturday.
The Brunswick Varsity Eight led right from the start and were able to pull away to win by multiple boat lengths.
In the Second Varsity Eights race, Brunswick also emerged victorious. Andover and Hanover were level with Brunswick for the first third of the race before the Bruins were able to come through and win by a bit of open water.
And while the Bruin lower boats raced hard, they came up on the short end of their races versus Andover (who fielded seven eights today). The Third Varsity Eight lost by just over two seconds, while the Fourth Eight was headed for a photo finish before ‘catching a crab’ just before the finish line.
