'Wick Earns No. 1 Seed in FAA Tourney

Brunswick never trailed against Greenwich Country Day School on Wednesday afternoon in Dann Gym, earning a 62-41 victory. With the win, the Bruins secure the number one seed in next week’s FAA tournament, giving them a first-round bye and home-court advantage throughout the playoffs.

Brunswick started out with a bang as Jon Sigurdsson slammed home an alley-oop dunk on a pass thrown by Malik Samms on the game’s opening possession. From there, the Bruins went on a 13-2 run over the first seven minutes of play and ultimately headed to halftime up 26-16.

Brunswick quickly extended their lead in the second half as Jon Sigurdsson’s presence inside overwhelmed the Tigers. He scored 15 of his game-high 24 points after the break, including two more alley-oop dunks, one assisted by Samms and another by Tristan Joseph.

Samms and Joseph both distributed the ball nicely all game, setting up teammates with easy looks, and finished with eight assists each, to go along with 10 and seven points, respectively. Matty Augustine once again showed his rebounding prowess, as he grabbed a game-high 11 boards.

The Bruins are back in Dann at 5 p.m. tomorrow for Senior Night and their last regular-season contest against GFA.
