Brunswick Pins Through Taft

Brunswick wrestlers pinned their way through the Taft lineup, sacrificing only two losses in a solid victory over state rival Taft School.  Each victory helps improve Bruin wrestlers' seeding criteria for the upcoming WNEISWA tournament (states).

Will MacGillivray (160 lbs.) opened the pinfest with a first period pin. Captain Will Donovan (170 lbs.) followed with another first period pin. Wylie Ocken (182 lbs.) lost a tough decision 6-10, but Tomas Delgado (195 lbs.) quickly righted the ship with another first period pin. Michael Neviera (220 lbs.) and captain Cliff Belknap followed suit with first period pins as well.

At 103 lbs., Quinn McGraw earned a pin in the second period after a tumultuous back and forth first period. Patrick O’Donahue pinned his opponent early in the second period. Carter Bagaria earned another first period pin. Taft’s best moment of the match was a pin of eighth grader Charlie McGraw by one of their more seasoned wrestlers in the 126 lbs. weight class. The Bruins answered this loss with pins by Kyle Karas (138 lbs.) and Kyle Pagnani (145 lbs.), both coming at 1:06 in the first period. The Bruins ended the match with a come-from-behind win by Kaden Saad. Trailing 7-2 in the second period, Saad reversed and then pinned his opponent for the final win.

Brunswick is scheduled to host the Fairchester Athletic Association dual tournament on Saturday at Burke Field House (weather dependent).
