Brunswick defeated Dos Pueblos High School (Goleta, Calif.), 17-3, in a tune-up game played on the eve of the Santa Barbara Invitational on Wednesday in Southern California.
The Bruins jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first quarter courtesy of three goals from Ryan Ohl. Goaltender Ryan Miele highlighted the frame with a save made on a penalty shot.
Brunswick scored another four goals in the second quarter, the first from freshman Adam Blum and the second on an extra-man tally by Vilas Sogaard. Blum found the net again late in the quarter, while Jack Scafidi finished the first-half scoring to give the Bruins a 7-1 lead at the break.
The Bruins held the Chargers to one goal in the second half, as senior captain JP Ohl came on in relief in net and registered six saves. Blum (3), Will Morton (2), Aidan Marks, Ryan Ohl, Luke Apostolides, Vilas Sogaard, and Emil Sogaard rounded out the scoring to secure ’Wick’s second victory of the young season.
The Bruins will face Dana Hills High School (Dana Point, Calif.) at 6:00 p.m. PST in the first game of the Santa Barbara Invitational on Thursday.
