Brunswick lost a 3-1 decision to Hotchkiss under the lights on Cosby Field on Wednesday. The Senior Day setback dropped the Bruins overall record to 9-6-1.
Despite some quality scoring chances in the first half, Brunswick was shut-out in the opening frame, as the visitors added a pair of goals in the final 10 minutes of action to take a 2-0 lead into the break.
Trailing 2-0 in the second half, the Bruins got on the board in the 60th minute. Kyle Raker collected a pass near midfield and worked his way to the Bearcats’ net, as Raker’s in-close shot on net was turned away by the Hotchkiss goalie. The loose ball popped up in the air, as a charging Arryan Chinai headed the ball in for the goal. The tally was the seventh goal of the season for Chinai.
Leading 2-1, Hotchkiss responded with an insurance goal just three minutes later to regain the two-goal advantage over the Bruins.
Brunswick mounted a few scoring chances down the stretch, including Anthony Deosa’s blast from 18 yards out with under two minutes remaining. Only a leaping deflection by the Hotchkiss keeper kept the ball out of the upper-right corner of the goal to preserve the 3-1 win.
Brunswick’s Eric Meindl made five saves in goal.
The Bruins wrap-up the regular season on the road at Westminster on Saturday, November 9.
