Brunswick picked up a 2-0 win against FAA foe Hopkins on Tuesday. The victory secures a second-place finish in the FAA regular season for the Bruins and gives Brunswick (14-5, 9-2) a semifinal home game in the upcoming league tournament.
Brunswick collected eight hits in the game, including four for extra-bases, as Jake Hyde, Aaron Sabato and JD Sparks (2-3) each smacked a double, while James Sassi (2-3, RBI) legged out a triple.
Reed Mascolo (4-1) picked up the win for the Bruins, tossing 6.0 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. Trystan Sarcone pitched the final inning in relief to earn his first save on the year.
Brunswick broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning, as Sassi drove in Sabato from third base with a one-out single. Sabato led off the frame with a double and later advanced to third on a fly-out.
The Bruins added an insurance run in the sixth inning. Sassi roped a leadoff single and was plated on an RBI single by Luke Fisher for a 2-0 lead.
Brunswick wraps up the regular season at FAA rival Greens Farms on Friday, May 11.
