Following a trio of second period goals by Brunswick’s Jack Forrest, Westminster rallied with a pair of goals in the final frame to top the visiting Bruins, 4-3. The Tuesday contest was originally scheduled for Saturday, December 9, but was rescheduled due to inclement weather.
The two teams combined for a dozen two-minute penalties, including seven by Westminster (3-0-0).
With the Bruins trailing 1-0 with eight minutes gone in the second period, Forrest netted the first of his three tallies on a power play.
After the hosts regained the lead just over three minutes later on a power-play goal, Forrest countered with a goal a minute later to tie the game at 2-2. The Brunswick senior notched his hat-trick tally on another Bruin power play with roughly two minutes left in the period, giving the visitors a 3-2 advantage.
In the third period, Westminster tied the game at 3-3 in the opening minutes and took the lead on a goal in traffic with 4:07 left in regulation.
Trailing 4-3, the Bruins pulled goalie Dan Dachille (29 saves) for an extra attacker in the final minute, but could not net the equalizer.
Brunswick (3-3-0) heads to the St. Sebastian Tournament on Friday, December 15, facing Rivers in the opening round at 6:00 p.m.
