Brunswick sent five boats to the Kent Invitational at Lake Waramaug on Saturday. Despite the heavy crosswind and rain, the Bruins 1V boat finished third in the 1,500-meter event, 0.5 seconds behind second-place Salisbury (4:40.1).
The 2V boat took second place behind Kent, while Brunswick’s 3V made a characteristically strong late push but crossed the line in third, two seconds behind second-place Simsbury.
Closing out the day of racing, the novice boat and Brunswick's 4V faced off against entries from Kent, Simsbury, and Farmington. The two Brunswick boats dominated the race and finished one-two, 20 seconds ahead of third-place Simsbury. The strong performance completes the perfect spring for the novices, having only lost to the Brunswick upperclassmen during the season.
On Friday, May 19, Brunswick's 1V will be in Philadelphia, racing in the Stotesbury Cup, while the 2V and 3V will be off until Saturday, May 27. All three Brunswick entries will compete in the NEIRA Championships, held at Lake Quinsigamond, near Worcester, Mass.
