Stony Brook Pulls Away from 'Wick in Late Innings

Brunswick varsity baseball lost a tough game on Saturday to the Stony Brook School by the score of 14-3.

Stony Brook was a well-coached, talented team that was excellent with the bats, defensively, and on the mound.  It was a very competitive game through the first five innings of play as the score was 5-3 heading into the sixth.

Jackson Shepelsky got the start on the mound and was able to provide four innings of productive work. Teddy Bancroft was in relief for the fifth and Jackson Cunningham came in for the sixth.

The Bruins' bats were held to minimal production, but manufactured some runs using small ball and moving runners over. Some notables: Connor Jones had three hits and came around to score twice. Jerry Guzman had two hits, including his third home run of the season, finishing the day with two RBIs. Reed Hyde had an RBI.

The Bruins have a busy week ahead as they have three games. Next up is Hopkins on Wednesday, when the seniors will be recognized in a post-game ceremony. Bancroft will get the start.
