A host of Brunswick alpine skiers competed in the first round of the Team CT Shootouts on Monday night at Mt. Southington.
The top performing boys from Connecticut vied to make the first cut in the multi-step process for earning one of the final 12 spots on Team CT, and the chance to go to the Eastern High School Championships.
Brunswick qualified five athletes to the first round of the Shootouts — Patch Leonard, Ollie Leonard, Ryan Warner, Teddy Bancroft, and Teddy Hojlo.
“Competition was fierce and the conditions were challenging given the warm weather and soft snow,” said head coach Brian Shipman.
Hojlo came up just short — a mere .02 seconds — of making the cut, as the other four Bruins advanced to the next round on February 27.
“Teddy competed admirably and should feel proud he held the Brunswick flag high at this event,” Shipman said.
