Brunswick fell on the road to All Hallows High School, 10-7, in Wednesday’s season opener played at the Bronxchester Little League Complex in the Bronx.
After the Bruins took an early 3-0 lead — sparked by senior Boston Flannery’s two-run homer in the top half of the first and sophomore Wim Nook's sacrifice bunt in the second — the Gaels responded with two runs in the second, three in the third, and five in the fifth to seize a 10-3 advantage.
Walks, defensive miscues, and errors plagued the visitors all afternoon.
The Bruins fought back to close the gap late in the game — and loaded the bases with one out in the seventh and final frame — but were unable to complete the comeback and took their first loss of the season.
The Bruins will look to enter the win column this weekend, when they play at Kent on Friday and at home versus Loomis Chaffee on Saturday.
